This article covers:

Decluttering stuff is hard.As I sit here I have three piles of clothes sat next to my washing machine. They’ve been there for two days now. There’s washing up I haven’t done. Letters I haven’t filed. Phone calls I haven’t made.  I still have an entire room that’s floor to ceiling boxes from my recent move. The thing is. There’s always more to do. Always other things that need to take priority. Only they probably don’t.It’s just easier to do other things than to start sorting through a million boxes.Doing the things you need to do instead of the things you want to do is a daily challenge you and I face. Most of the time I put off decluttering because I just don’t know where to start. I’m scared of mission creep. I’ll start cleaning and four hours later I’ll feel like I haven’t gotten anywhere. Well that’s how it used to be. Then I started getting help from some surprising places. Decluttering blogs.

So here, for your decluttering motivation, are 10 of the very best decluttering blogs that help me out on a daily basis.

Decluttering a slob comes clean

Dana is a self-confessed slob. Her mission is to blog honestly about her ‘deslobification’ process to help people everywhere feel better about their clutter. It’s got a lovely retro feel about it and it’s so easy to read Dana’s blog posts. If you want to feel like you aren’t alone in decluttering this is a great place to start. She’s also got a bunch of videos and podcasts and books, so it’s easy to enjoy the blog no matter what kind of media you are into. To join Dana in her deslobification process, click here.

UFYH

If you like a bit of humour and prefer a direct approach to decluttering this site is amazing. One of their taglines is: “Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes.” Really their philosophy is one of accountability. It’s all about keeping you responsible for your clutter. There’s an app you can download which is very cheap, it has timers, random motivations and declutter challenges. This was the one thing that helped me most when I was preparing for my move. If you need some UFYH in your life, click here.
